A fitting feel-good way to celebrate Family Day, Syrian Film Night at the Revue Cinema will be raising funds to sponsor a Syrian refugee family. This cultural evening of food, drink and film includes screenings of Syrian Eagles, a short film about a soccer team of Syrian refugees in Toronto and After Spring, a documentary which follows two Syrian refugee families rebuilding their lives in a refugee camp.
As part of your ticket price, you’ll get to enjoy a range of Syrian snacks and sweets like thyme pie, stuffed grape leaves and ghoraybeh shortbread cookies with pistachio. You’ll also get to sip on a special cocktail made with Arak – a traditional Syrian spirit flavoured with aniseed. Funds raised from the event will go towards housing, school supplies, healthcare services, clothing and groceries for a Syrian family’s first year in Canada.
